Alpine Loop

RATING: Moderate to Intermediate
Alpine Loop - Engineer Pass to Cinnamon Pass. Engineer Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 12,800 feet (3.901 m) above the sea level. It’s one of Colorado's most scenic offroad drives. It’s mostly a first gear ride because the road is rough and rocky. The plan is have lunch in Lake City and make the return trip via Cinnamon Pass. The western half of the trip passes many historic points and climbs to outstanding views. Cinnamon Pass Road also accesses beautiful American Basin, one of the best places in the area for wildflowers, if the timing is right. This is a long day on the trail for those of you looking to maximize your trail time
